ResponDING! Improv Comedy Techniques to Get Creative and Find Opportunity in Change

  • Friday, April 17, 2020
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

HRATV is pleased to present a free webinar opportunity this month.  A non-boring, interactive, virtual presentation to help you generate new ideas, new approaches, and new solutions so you can navigate change and uncertainty with confidence and optimism!

ResponDING! Improv Comedy Techniques to Get Creative and Find Opportunity in Change

Friday, April 17th, 12pm to 1pm

During times of change and uncertainty, you are asked to do new things, to do old things in new ways, and to completely change your approach to work and life. On top of that, everything around you - customers, clients, vendors, co-workers, etc. - are doing things differently as well. Trying to conduct “business as usual,” or simply “tweaking” what you already do will most likely not work.

Instead, you need to get creative, try new things, and access your creativity and generate new ideas, options, and solutions. By developing and testing new ideas, you have the opportunity to emerge from change in a better situation than you were before.

All people have the capacity for tremendous creativity. Most just never learned (or have forgotten) how to access it, how to develop it, and most importantly, how to direct it. In this interactive, high-energy, and funny virtual training workshop, you will learn exactly how to do that.

This workshop is virtual (via Zoom), but it will not be the same ol’ same old, dry webinar type program. Spread throughout the session will be:

  • Improv games played by Avish to demonstrate the ideas (and bring some needed levity to the situation)
  • Opportunities for live-action “hot-seat” style interaction where volunteers can apply these techniques to their situation using Avish’s help, live during the session.
  • Humor, energy, and real-time exercises to reinforce and apply the learning.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Tap into your true creative power
  • Shift your thinking from “just trying to get through it” to “how can I use this opportunity to make things better than before.?”
  • Apply 5 different techniques to direct your creativity to generate ideas you never would have come up with otherwise.
  • Increase engagement and motivation even in uncertain times.
  • And more!

Basically, you will learn ways of answering for yourself the question everyone is currently asking - “what on earth can I do now?”

If you are not being affected or bothered by change, then you may not need this session (now, but you probably will in the future…) Otherwise, register now to play, create, and learn ways of adapting and thriving as everything changes around you.

NOTE:  The presentation will be recorded and available for viewing for about two weeks after. So sign up even if you can't join live!

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER

Avish Parashar grew up in "exotic" Poughkeepsie, NY and now makes his home in Philadelphia, PA. Though he performed all through high-school, he decided to stop performing when he went to college to “focus on his studies” (his parents were very proud of this decision). That resolve lasted only a few months, as the first time he saw an improv comedy show he fell in love (his parents were slightly less proud). One week later he auditioned for the campus improv group, got in, and the rest is history. After graduating, he started Polywumpus Improv Comedy, which performed regularly in and around Philadelphia for seven years. Avish closed up Polywumpus to focus on the speaking and training side of the business – using improv comedy as a tool to teach valuable business skills such as creativity, innovation, and adaptability.

Weaving together humorous stories, jokes, audience interaction, and improv comedy games, Avish keeps the audience engaged while imparting a key lesson: Planning is Important, but Improvising is Essential! No matter how well you plan, things will go wrong, surprises will arise, and the Universe will throw you a curveball. Your success and sanity are directly related to how you respond these challenges. By the end of one of Avish's presentations you will have key tools to flow with all that life throws at you. Avish has spoken to the very creative (actors and directors), the very un-creative (accountants), the very casual (college students), and the very business-like (sales professionals). The end result is always the same - smiles, laughs, and a new way of looking at life and business.

Avish is the author of "Improvise to Success!" and the Amazon best-selling, "Say Yes, And!" (And yes, his parents are once again very proud.)
